Sadly, the Congress of the Swiss Abroad that was to be held in Lugano from 21 to 23 August 2020, and with it the CSA summer assembly, had to be cancelled.
The OSA very much regrets having had to make this decision, because personal encounters, exchanges of ideas and joint discussion and reflection play an important role in the Swiss Abroad community and CSA decision making. But the situation remains critical worldwide and the uncertainty of how the situation will develop by August is difficult to assess. A ban on meetings for larger groups is still to be expected. The Congress of the Swiss Abroad and the CSA assembly are international events, with participants attending from all over the world. It is still unclear whether normal air traffic can be resumed by August 2020. Under these circumstances, it will not be possible to go ahead with the event. The safety of all participants has top priority. Options of holding a virtual meeting are being evaluated.
For much the same reasons, the Oceania Swiss Club Presidents’ Conference that was to be held in Auckland in October 2020, had to be postponed to Saturday, 16 October 2021.
